Sotheang “Terry” Khieu, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor

I’m Terry (she/her), a licensed professional counselor with years of experience supporting young adults and adults from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. I feel deeply honored when clients choose me to walk alongside them in their healing journey. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and centered on helping individuals understand themselves, develop healthier patterns, and feel empowered to create meaningful change.

About Terry

I have been practicing as a licensed professional counselor for eight years, with extensive experience working with Asian Americans, international students, individuals within the BIPOC community, and clients of all ethnicities and identities. My professional background includes supporting individuals through stress, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, academic and work pressures, and challenges in relationships or daily functioning.

I believe that therapy is a place where people can slow down, understand their internal world more clearly, and learn how their patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving have evolved over time. I feel privileged to witness the courage it takes for clients to step into this process, and it is my goal to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment as we explore it together.

My Approach to Therapy

I approach therapy with the belief that every client has the capacity to heal, grow, and transform. My role is not to “fix” you, but to help you understand yourself more deeply and identify what may be getting in the way of your healing. Together, we explore your inner patterns, emotional experiences, and habitual responses, creating space for new insight and healthier ways of coping.

I use evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Sessions often focus on self-inquiry, exploring thinking and behavior patterns, increasing emotional awareness, and discovering which therapeutic tools work best for you as an individual. I tailor each session to your personality, background, and current needs, because meaningful healing happens when therapy honors who you are.

My approach is gentle, collaborative, and grounded in genuine care. Whether you are navigating identity-related stress, emotional overwhelm, relationship challenges, or life transitions, I am here to support and empower you every step of the way.
